Perhaps the tangerine remains in the shade of orange, but it is one of the most valuable fruits, and significantly reduces the possibility of being infected by many serious diseases.

Tangerine tree grows in tropical and subtropical climates and is an evergreen tree, sensitive to cold but quite drought resistant. Most varieties of tangerines come from crossings with other citrus fruits. Among them the scented tangor tangerines , deriving from the crossing with orange, and the rangpur, which is the result of a combination with lemon. The variety, however, that monopolizes the preference of the consumers are the clementines, while quite popular is the variety of satsuma.

The tangerine is rich in potassium and carotenoids, and few know that it has a calming action through the bromine salts contained. Its skin is considered to facilitate the digestion. The dried tangerine skin is also used widely in the traditional Chinese medicine, while the classical medicine shows that it recognizes its value, since, according to recent surveys, the consumption of tangerines is likely to greatly reduce the chance of liver cancer, heart, stroke and diabetes.
